"Thompson Superchargers & Ride North America" the perfect combination!
Thomson Superchargers designs and manufactures high-performance roots superchargers for motorcycles. Our superchargers are setting a new standard and add increased performance unlike any other superchargers on the market.
I want to be sure everyone knows.....My system is a positive displacement roots blower, Not to be confused with a centrifugal supercharger or a turbo (Variable Displacement). Centrifugal blowers and turbos are both RPM reliant, meaning they will build boost in a predetermined (by Boost Ratio) range, this range is typically in the mid to high range. A roots blower is load reliant, meaning you will build boost under load wether it be at 1500 RPM, 4500 RPM, or 5500RPM. One big benefit to a roots blower on a Harley V-Twin is the instant boost rise. This means gobbs of torque in the low and midrange, making your everyday street bike an absolute animal.
Thomson Superchargers BEFI (Blown Electronic Fuel Injection):
#1 Eliminates the need for any type of piggyback tuners (powercommander,TFI,DFO etc)and allows the tuner to solve tuning issues at the source, rather than bandaiding them. The tuning sofware has some very helpful tools that aid in the rough tuning, and fine tuning.
#2 The first open or closed loop system specifically setup for a boosted configuration in the motorcycle world, and is basically infinitely tunable, meaning no need to update at a later date for a different setup.
#3 Has full control and tunability over both Fuel and ignition, with additional aux channels.
#4 Can be used as an open or closed loop EFI system for Blown or naturally aspirated applications. Throttle body injection or Port injection.
#5 Full sequential
Boost is the amount of air preasure created by the supercharger. Boost preasure is largely misunderstood, and most beleive more boost = more power. This is true to a limit. Although air is constantly passing through the supercharger while running, this does not mean it is constantly creating boost. This is because at lower blower speeds, the clearances between the case and rotors allow a minimal amount of leakage, resulting in some loss of boost effeciency. If your engine is not flowing properly due to poor cylinder heads, cam, valves, etc, boost readings will typically increase in the upper RPM range. This occurs because the boost the blower is creating cannot fully enter the cylinder due to restrictions, and the boost is now backing up in the intake tract, resulting in a false boost reading.
