More details coming in 2017 location and times may change, stay posted!
The Gulf Coast Veterans Parade had its first parade on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2000 after organizing in 1999. With the exception of 2005 when Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, this parade has continued from the initial beginnings to become one of the major Veterans Day Parade draws in the southeast.
Each year the parade route is moved between the cities along the Mississippi Gulf Coast in order to accommodate the active and retired military that are a predominate force along South Mississippi. The parade is always held on the Saturday nearest the observed Veterans Day in order to allow school children to participate and show their patriotic spirit to those who serve and have served in the military of the United States.
The 17th Annual Gulf Coast Veterans Parade will be held in the City of D'lberville. We are also a convenient drive from military facilities at Camp Shelby, Columbus AFB, Meridian NAS, Pensacola NAS and Stennis Space Center. We are a short drive from neighbouring metropolitan cities of New Orleans, Louisiana, Mobile, Alabama and Jackson, Mississippi.
The Gulf Coast Veterans Parade has been very successful during the past fifteen years not only by having a strong military presence on the Mississippi Coast, but also with the support of civilian participation. Past parades have included marching military troops, High School JROTC Cadets, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, Local and State American Legion Posts, Veteran of Foreign War Groups, Purple Heart Units, Disabled American Veteran Groups, the local Veterans Administration Hospital Center, High School Bands, Local and State Politicians, Boys & Girls Clubs, Motorcycle Riders, Shriners and civilian participants, and our true heroes, our Veterans! Each year the parade grows - the 2013 parade containing around 1800 participants.
We strive to keep our followers updated on our website www.msveteransparade.com and our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/veteransday.parade. We send press releases to national and statewide publications as well as local and national military magazines. By doing this, we hope to spark interest and keep the patriotic spirit alive on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
We have been honored in the past six years by being nominated and selected as a Veterans Day Regional Site by the Veterans Day National Committee. Our past performance and enthusiasm for this upcoming 2016 parade has encouraged the Veterans Day National Committee to once again allow us the privilege of recognition as a Veterans Day Regional Site.
